The U.S. economy showed signs of moderating inflation today as the core Producer Price Index (PPI) for March came out inline with market expectations at 0.2% m/m, marginally lower than in February.  In addition to the positive PPI figure the Empire State Survey, a survey that’s assess business conditions and expectations amongst manufacturing executives came in at 0.63 beating market expectations at negative 17.5 for April.  The data suggest that the Fed may not need to be as aggressive in their easing policy as the Empire State Survey a measure of growth the PPI an inflationary measure suggest that growth and inflation may be nearing equilibrium.
