Former VP & Treasurer for Safeway Inc
Mr. Naito served as VP & Treasurer for Safeway Inc. from 1981 until electing to take early retirement. Until management's buyout agreement with KKR in 1986, Safeway was the largest grocery supermarket chain in the world, in terms of sales, with global operations in most major markets including the U.S., Canada, U.K., West Germany, Australia and Mexico.
Prior to joining Safeway Inc., Mr. Naito served as Banking Division Manager at Dillingham Corporation where he was responsible for corporate treasury management activities for this $1.2 billion diversified company. Prior to Dillingham he served as a Commercial Officer at the Bank of Hawaii. Mr. Naito served in the U.S. Army (29th Infantry Division) in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1970.
Mr. Naito holds a BBA from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Accounting & Economics.
